My Approach

We may be unaware of it, but we cannot help but be shaped by our relationships and experiences, especially from our childhood, which means that current patterns of behavior and emotions will originate from our past.   Working in collaboration we can explore your current difficulties, personal beliefs and values, find ways to help you cope, and uncover the connection between your past and present experience.

For some people creative activities, such as painting or writing, can become a part of the therapy, but that’s entirely up to you.  Sometimes it can be helpful to consider physical symptoms if they are present because internal conflicts, that we may not even be aware of, can be expressed through our bodies.

Should we decide to work together, I will give you my full attention, a safe place to express yourself, and my knowledge and experience to give you as much support as I can.

I may offer you a different perspective, I may challenge you in a supportive way, and I may suggest various coping strategies so that you can start to make the changes that you want.  However, I won’t attempt to tell you how to live your life, as my role as your therapist will include to make observations and pose questions to allow you to think deeper.

The exploration undertaken in therapy will give you a more profound understanding of what you are feeling and why, and can help you to make effective, positive and lasting change.
