About Me
Jessica Ostad is a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York & Florida. For the last five years, Jessica has been working as a private practice psychotherapist. Her previous experiences in the field of mental health include working in Case Management roles, including with Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) mental health court-mandated individuals; a Family Specialist Therapist on a Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) Team; and her management experience as an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team Leader where she managed staff and provided supervision, while overseeing all clientele on the team. Her extensive experience includes working with the chronically and severely mentally ill population, at times with a criminal history, and often with co-morbidities such as co-occurring health or substance abuse disorders.
In doing so, she has gained a strong knowledge base and experience working with clients in the court system. Additionally, Jessica has experience facilitating groups, and providing both individual counseling and family counseling to clients of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. One of her areas of specialization is working with clients experiencing anxiety, family dilemma's, and facing challenging life transitions.
Some theoretical approaches often used are based in Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She uses these approaches to help clients reframe their maladaptive thought processes and behaviors, while also constructing a concrete vision of a preferred future. In doing so, Jessica has observed clients' gaining a new appreciation of self, a more positive outlook and attitude, and improved coping skills to tackle issues as they appear.
